SANDHURST CRICKET CLUB Inc A37A
HISTORY/OVERVIEW
The Sandhurst Cricket Club was formed in 1928 and is an important member of one of the stronger competitions in Victoria, the Bendigo District Cricket Association. Apart from entering 1st XI, 2nd XI and 3rd XI teams, the Sandhurst Cricket Club also enters teams at U11, U13, U15 and U17 levels in the junior competition, and annually runs the Milo Have-A-Go cricket program.
Our First XI team has been extremely successful and has won premierships in 1941/42, 1957/58, 1961/62, 1962/63, 1963/64, 1965/66, 1966/67, 1969/70, 1977/78 and 1978/79. Although not as successful in recent years the Club has remained committed to fostering the development of our junior players.
OTHER CRICKET
The Sandhurst Cricket Club has the following annual cricket matches against; -
-
Melbourne XXIX Club (ex Melbourne CC Premier/District players and usually one or two current 1st XI players). Our last three matches in Melbourne have been played on the Albert Ground, a great place to play cricket. We must be due soon to play again on the MCG.
-
Bendigo CC - Twenty/20 match under lights at the QEO for the Ron Slattery Cup.
-
Bendigo United CC for the John Turner Memorial Trophy. Jock was a life member of both our Clubs. The trophy is decided on the result of all senior and junior matches.
